Philosophy
Traditionally, a school is an institution that exists to provide instruction. Subtly but profoundly we are shifting to a new paradigm: a school is an institution that exists to provide learning. We are attempting to change the focus of education from teaching to learning. This re-framing of education places the student at the centre, empowers the learner and emphasizes the constructive nature of learning. The Beal Innovates approach attempts to spark curiosity that results in thoughtful questions. The learner’s questions drive their knowledge acquisition. An imperative aspect of the Beal Innovates approach is to challenge students to provide a solution to a problem facing the world. In general our approach is curiosity (reveal) → questions (explore) → understanding (synthesize)→ innovation (execute), fully acknowledging that learning is a non-linear process. This approach is transferable into all disciplines, thus allowing our learners to adapt to a quickly changing world. The skills acquired within this program will serve our learners well into the 21st century.
To What Do We Aspire To?
A world filled with resilient, critically thinking, problem solvers.

How do we operate?
We emphasize:

Process and Skills over product and content.
Feedback over marks.
Engagement over compliance.
Collaboration over individualism
Responding to change over following a plan.
That is, while there is value in the items on
the right, we value the items on the left more.
